Keynote Address: Ron Lancaster

Ron is an Associate Professor Emeritus at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (OISE/UT) where he taught mathematics courses for pre-service middle and high school teachers for 17 years. Prior to that, Ron taught middle and high school mathematics for 23 years in co-ed public schools and an all-girls school. Ron's professional activities include consultations and conference presentations in North America, Asia, England, the Middle East, Africa, India and Europe. Ron has been a prolific author for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (The Mathematical Lens, Media Clips) and the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education (Mathematical Snapshots, Photo Math). Ron has been a National Instructor for Texas Instruments since 1994 and has conducted week-long and day-long workshops throughout the United States and Canada on graphing calculators, motion detectors, and scientific probes. Ron is the recipient of the 2015 Margaret Sinclair Memorial Award Recognizing Innovation and Excellence in Mathematics Education awarded by the Fields Institute.

Keynote Address: Amanda Jansen

Dr. Amanda Jansen is a professor in the mathematics education program in the School of Education at the University of Delaware, with a joint appointment in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at UD. Earlier in her career, she taught mathematics in grades 7-9 in Arizona. Mandy earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Michigan State University. She conducts research in mathematics classrooms to learn about how teachers create engaging and motivating mathematics learning environments. At the University of Delaware, she teaches prospective elementary and middle school teachers as well as doctoral students. She also conducts professional development for practicing teachers. Her latest book, Rough Draft Math: Revising to Learn, was published by Stenhouse in the Spring of 2020. She is also the co-author with Jim Middleton of Motivation Matters and Interest Countspublished by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Outside of work, she enjoys taking walks and playing pinball.
